We are so sorry to announce that Central Easter Camp 2022 has been cancelled.

Kia ora Easter Camp whānau

Easter Camp 22 has thrown us some curveballs this past year. With each one God has been faithful and led us through them. Unfortunately, against all hopes, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel Central Easter Camp for 2022. Even in this, the toughest of decisions, we as a team have seen God’s faithfulness.

This has been by no means an easy decision to make. Like many of you, we have been watching the spread of the omicron variant of Covid 19. We’ve been taking advice from our medical team as they have reached out to get wider advice. As well we have also been communicating with the directors of Northern and Southern Easter Camps, and eCamp, as we have worked towards making a decision for EC22, Tūmanako.

From one perspective, we can’t believe we’ve reached a point where we’ve made this decision. It seems to go against everything we want to see for our region and the youth we run Easter Camp for.  We understand the significant role Easter Camp plays in our region and the impact this decision has on youth communities and young people. We’re as gutted as you are to hear this, even though it may not come as much of a surprise.

At the heart of our desire is the theme of Easter Camp 2022, Tūmanako, and we want to emphasise the word ‘is’.  Yes, Easter Camp is cancelled, but Tūmanako is not found in Easter Camp, it’s found in what Easter represents, a relationship with the risen Jesus!  We implore you to pick up the mantle of Tūmanako and use this Easter to take that message home to your communities.

As an Easter Camp whānau we will place our Tūmanako in Jesus.
